(CHICAGO) — Simeon Career Academy 6-foot-8 small forward Jabari Parker, the nation’s No. 2 ranked high school senior, committed to Duke during a news conference on Thursday.
The 17-year-old Parker chose the Blue Devils over Michigan State, Florida, BYU and Stanford.
“Of course the history,” Parker said of his decision. “Duke is always going to be a team in the tournament. You can’t go wrong at the program.”
As a junior, Parker average 19.5 points and 8.9 rebounds while leading Simeon to its third straight state championship. He was named the Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year for 2011-12.
