Traffic Stop Leads to Cash Seizure on US20 near Idaho Falls

On December 23, 2012, at 2:47 a.m., the Idaho State Police initiated a traffic stop on a 2013 Dodge Caravan traveling west on US 20 at milepost 308, near Idaho Falls, for speeding.
During the traffic stop, the officer obtained probable cause to search the vehicle, and discovered over $60,000 in cash within the vehicle. The driver and two passengers in the vehicle denied having any knowledge of the cash discovered. The occupants of the vehicle were released and the money found was seized.
The Idaho State Police was assisted by Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit.
