(NEW YORK) — This Sunday, the Chicago Bears will travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings in a critical NFC North Showdown. Vikings’ linebacker Chad Greenway wants fans to get “super-duper drunk” to give the team an extra advantage.
The Vikings trail the Bears by two games in the NFC North standings so this game will go a long way in determining the fate of both teams.
“We have to play accordingly, and our fans have to show up accordingly, which they know they will. Hopefully they’re super-duper drunk. …So drink liquor, not beer,” Greenway said last Sunday according to the Star Tribune.
After some time past, Greenway realized his comments went a little too far.
“Obviously, I could have used more responsible words,” Greenway said. “I think the people that know me, the beat writers included, know that I said that sort of tongue-in-cheek.”
Greenway, who is in his seventh season with the Vikings, currently leads the NFL with 123 tackles.
