One of the best hitters in baseball over the past decade, Ichiro turned down more money from other teams to stay with the Yankees. He will be 41-years old by the time his contract expires.

After spending his first 11 seasons with the Seattle Mariners, Ichiro was traded midseason to the Yankees and was rejuvenated. In 67 games with the Yankees last season, Ichiro batted .322 and scored 28 runs.

In his prime, Ichiro was one of the most dangerous hitters baseball has ever seen. He had over 200 hits in his first ten seasons in the Majors, and has amassed 2,606 hits over that time.

Not only is 3,000 Major League hits in sights for Ichiro, but he may eclipse an even bigger milestone. After nine seasons playing in Japan, Ichiro has 3,884 hits at a professional baseball player and could reach the 4,000 hit mark this season if he stays healthy.
