“The one thing that has happened to us all season long is, are you going to kick to him (Thomas),” Oregon head coach Chip Kelly said on the sophomores opening score. “We knew K-State was outstanding on special teams and it was going to be a big challenge for us. And obviously, to get one to start the game, and to be up eight nothing without having our offense on the field, I think it was a huge jump for us.”

Oregon (12-1) would score again before Kansas State went on a 10-0 run and stopped the Ducks on back-to-back offensive possessions. But in a drive before the half that lasted less than a minute, Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota found Kenjon Barner for a 24-yard score, giving the Ducks a 22-10 halftime lead.

Oregon came out blazing in the second half, scoring on its first two drives and putting the game out of reach.

Marcus Mariota was named the games offensive MVP. He accounted for three touchdowns, two passing and one rushing, in the win.
