(NEW YORK) — The Kansas City Chiefs finally have their man.
According to league sources, the Chiefs and former Eagles head coach Andy Reid have agreed to a contract for Reid to become the team’s next head coach. The deal is pending review by both side’s attorneys.
Reid was fired from the Eagles after coaching the team for 13 seasons. He led the team to nine playoff appearances during that time.
The Chiefs, coming off a 2-14 season, also parted ways with general manager Scott Pioli. “The bottom line is that I did not accomplish all of what I set out to do. To the Hunt family — to the great fans of the Kansas City Chiefs — to the players, all employees and alumni, I truly apologize for not getting the job done,” Pioli said in a statement.
Pioli was with the team for four seasons, with the team going 23-29 in that time.
