The Next Web reports that mentions of the iPhone 6 and iOS 7 have started to pop up in developer logs. Developer logs show app usage; an app creator can see what types of software and devices are being used to download and use apps.

“One developer showed us that Apple has been testing hardware relating to a new ‘iPhone6,1- identifier, powered by a device running iOS 7, which is expected to be released by Apple in the middle part of this year,” The Next Web’s Matt Brian wrote. (Brian concedes those logs can be faked, though in this case he says it’s unlikely.)

Adding to the mix is MacRumors, which cites a Topeak Capital Markets analyst’s prediction that the next iPhone will be launched in March or April, come in a number of colors and screen sizes, and likely be called the iPhone 5S.

Apple launched the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 just five months ago. The launch of the phone was a bit later than in years past; the iPhone has typically launched in the summer timeframe. It previewed iOS 6 — the software that ditched Google Maps and added Passbook and other tweaks — in June at its WWDC conference.
