(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.) — Oregon coach Chip Kelly is one of the top coaching candidates for a number of NFL head coach positions, but right now he’s focused on his current team’s bowl game.
This Thursday, Kelly’s Oregon Ducks will face off against Kansas State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
“I’ve got a game to play,” Kelly said on Monday. “We’re playing in the Fiesta Bowl. That’s the biggest thing in my life. If I allowed other things to get into my life, then they would be distractions, but there aren’t. Our focus 100 percent is on the Fiesta Bowl.”
While Kelly’s participation in the bowl game is a certainty, his coaching future after that is anything but certain. There are seven open head coaching positions in the NFL, and reports say that he is already being sought after by the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns.
During Kelly’s time with Oregon, he has overseen arguably the most explosive offense in college football today. They ranked second in the nation this season in scoring average per game.
