Cincinnati Reds Awarded 2015 All-Star Game

John Grieshop/MLB Photos via Getty Images(CINCINNATI) — Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday that the Cincinnati Reds have been awarded the 2015 All-Star Game. It will mark the fifth time the Reds have hosted the Midsummer Classic, and it’ll be the first time that the game has been played at the Great American Ball Park.
Cincinnati hasn’t hosted an All-Star game since 1988, when the American League one-upped the National League, 2-1, at Riverfront Stadium.
One of the most famous plays in All-Star Game history took place at Riverfront in 1970, when Pete Rose barreled over Ray Fosse to score the winning run for the National League.
The New York Mets will host this year’s All-Star Game at Citi Field. In 2014, the Midsummer Classic will be played at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.
