(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) — NASCAR driver Danica Patrick is planning on skipping this year’s Indianapolis 500 to concentrate on her first full-time season on the Sprint Cup series.
The 30-year-old Patrick last competed in the famous race in 2011, finishing 10th. Her best performance in the 500 came in 2009, when she took home third place.
Patrick spent seven seasons in the IndyCar series before jumping to NASCAR’s junior circuit full-time in 2012. In 33 races on the Nationwide series last season, she had four top-ten finishes.
Patrick also raced in ten Sprint Cup events last year for Stewart-Haas Racing. This season, she will be paired with Ryan Newman’s former crew chief, Tony Gibson.
