(ARLINGTON) — Outfielder David Murphy agreed to a one-year deal worth just under $5.775 million with the Texas Rangers, avoiding contract arbitration.
The 31-year-old Murphy and the Rangers have discussed the possibility of a multi-year deal.
In 147 games last season, Murphy hit .304 with 15 homers and 61 RBIs.
He is a career .285 hitter during his seven major league seasons with Texas and Boston.
