Diamondbacks Trade Justin Upton to Atlanta
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Atlanta Braves have acquired outfielder Justin Upton and first baseman Chris Johnson from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for pitcher Randall Delgado, infielder Martin Prado, and three minor leaguers, according to ESPN.
The deal is pending physicals by all the players involved. Justin’s brother, B.J., signed with the Braves during the offseason and the two will patrol the outfield together once the deal is official.
Upton batted .280, with 17 homers, and 67 RBI’s in 2012 for the Diamondbacks and has been seeking a trade since the regular season ended.
The Upton brothers will join Jason Heyward in the outfield. Heyward won his first Gold Glove last season and batted .269 with 27 homers and 82 RBIs.
