Energy Drinks: Caffeine May Be Only Booster

John Nordell/The Christian Science Monitor via Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- There's only one ingredient in those popular energy drinks that's proven to give you a mental or physical boost, research shows, according to the New York Times: the caffeine.

One researcher says you can get the same benefit from a cup of coffee.

Americans now spend $10 billion each year on energy drinks.
