ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter is reporting that tight end Rob Gronkowski will miss the rest of the playoffs with a broken arm.

Gronkowski appeared to injure his arm during the first quarter of the team’s win over the Houston Texans on Sunday. It is the same arm that Gronkowski broke earlier in the season, an injury that caused him to miss five games. He will require another surgery on his arm to repair the injury.

“It’s always a tough break,” Patriots guard Logan Mankins said. “Everyone on the team loves Rob. Loves him as a person, player. It’s a tough break for him, and it’s always been a tough break for our team, but whoever gets put in that spot, they have to do that job. We’re all counting on him.”

Gronkowski is one of the best tight ends in the NFL. In just 11 games played in 2012, Gronkowski was able to score 11 touchdowns. He’s scored 28 touchdowns in his past 27 games.

The team will now rely more on tight end Aaron Hernandez.
