Ryan Anderson led the way for the Hornets (15-29) with 22 points, hitting on seven 3-pointers. “He was huge for us,” said point guard Greivis Vasquez. “This man is an underrated shooter. People don’t give him enough credit. This guy can shoot.”

The team shot well as a whole, hitting on 42 percent of their shots.

Memphis (28-15) got the 28th double-double of the season from Zach Randolph (20 points, 13 rebounds) but Rudy Gay could not get his outside shot working. “Just taking too many jump shots,” Memphis coach Lionel Hollins said of Gay’s struggles. “Wasn’t just him, but in the first quarter when he had the chance, we just took a lot of jump shots. Took a lot of jump shots, and we stopped making them.”

Rookie Anthony Davis chipped in with 10 points for the Hornets.
