(BOISE, ID) — A recent study of Idaho’s third graders found that most kids are at a healthy weight, but the number of overweight and obese children is on the rise. State Health and Welfare officials say 69 percent of those surveyed were at a weight considered appropriate for their age. They attribute the increase in cases of overweight and obese children to poor dieting and a lack of exercise. Authorities say parents should work to ensure that their kids get at least an hour of physical activity every day.
