Jobless Claims Jump to 368,000

Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- Jobless claims shot up last week, rising by 38,000, according to the latest figures released Thursday by the Labor Department.

For the week ending Jan. 26, the number of people filing for benefits jumped to 368,000.  The previous week, claims stood at 330,000.

The four-week average also increased, climbing by 250 to 352,000.
