Jobless Claims Jump to 371K in First Week of 2013

Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — Jobless claims rose by 4,000 last week to kick off the new year, the Labor Department reported on Thursday.
For the week ending Jan. 5, the number of people filing for benefits jumped to 371,000. The previous week, claims stood at 367,000.
The four-week average also went up, climbing by 6,750 to 365,750.
