(NEW YORK) — Shakira has hired some help for her debut season as a coach on The Voice.
E! Online reports Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden will serve as an adviser for Shakira’s team on the upcoming spring season of the NBC competition. Madden has filled the role of coach on the Australian version of The Voice.
Shakira, who just gave birth to her first child, says of Joel, “He’s a friend and such a talented musician. I think our combined experience and expertise will bring an eclectic mix of input and energy.”
Joel chimes in, “I enjoyed working with all of the talented singers, hanging with Shakira and bringing what I’ve learned on the Australian version of the show back to the States with me.”
Shakira and Usher are taking over for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, both of whom are on hiatus from The Voice. Pharrell Williams has been named an adviser for Usher’s team.
The new coaches join the returning Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for the new season, which kicks off March 25.
