Judge Blocks Wolf Hunting Closure Near Yellowstone

  Published at  | Updated at

(BILLINGS, Mont.) – A Montana judge has allowed wolf hunting and trapping to resume in areas north of Yellowstone National Park.

The move comes after state officials closed the area following the deaths of several collared wolves being studied by researchers. The judge said the closure came without proper public notice, and thus violated the Montana State Constitution.

Wildlife officials dispute the argument, saying the public was given adequate prior warning before the closure Dec. 10.
