(FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga.) — Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter has agreed to a contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.
The 53-year-old Koetter, in his first season with the Falcons, had been considered a head coaching candidate, according to ESPN. On Tuesday, he met with the Kansas City Chiefs to discuss their opening.
With Koetter at the helm this season, the Falcons offense ranked eighth overall in the league. They finished second in the league in third-down efficiency and seventh in scoring.
Before coming to Atlanta, Koetter spent the previous four seasons as the offensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
