Lawsuit Alleges Zoloft Is as Effective as Placebo
(LOS ANGELES) -- A new lawsuit has been filed against Pfizer, the maker of a popular antidepressant.
Zoloft is heavily marketed and commonly prescribed, but in a new federal lawsuit filed in California, the drug is said to have no more benefit than a sugar pill.
While Pfizer is calling the lawsuit frivolous, the attorneys who filed it argue the U.S. Food and Drug Administration should never have approved Zoloft because Pfizer failed to publish a handful of studies that found it as effective as a placebo.
In the consumer fraud class-action suit, attorneys say patients who have taken it should be reimbursed.
