“Modern Family” Star Supports Gay Marriage Bill in Illinois
Published at(CHICAGO) — Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson is lending his support to a proposed bill in Illinois that would legalize gay marriage.
The openly gay actor was in Chicago Wednesday to launch Marriage Equality Days of Action in the state. “I certainly respect everyone’s right to their opinion but I think at the end of the day we all have to agree that treating any American as a second class citizen is not okay,” Ferguson said.
If the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act passes in Illinois it would become the tenth state in the U.S. to recognize same-sex marriage.
Ferguson plays Mitchell Pritchett on the ABC series.
