No. 6 Stanford Tops Wisconsin 20-14 In The Rose Bowl
Published at(PASADENA, CA) — No. 6 Stanford handed Wisconsin a 20-14 loss Tuesday night in the 99th annual Rose Bowl.
Stepfan Taylor rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown while quarterback Kevin Hogan passed for 123 yards.
Defensive back Usua Amanam intercepted Wisconsin quarterback Curt Phillips with 2:30 to play to give Stanford (12-2) its first Rose Bowl victory since 1972.
The Badgers were coached by Hall-of-Famer Barry Alvarez, who came out of retirement to coach the Rose Bowl to replace the departed Bret Bielema, who took the job at Arkansas.
Montee Ball rushed for 100 yards and his FBS-record 83rd touchdown, but the Badgers were held to just 82 yards in the second half.
Wisconsin (8-6) lost a heartbreaker in the Rose Bowl for the third consecutive year.
