According to KGO-TV, cops decided not to move in on Coco Bennett as he became the center of attention from law enforcement, the media and passersby near the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority station on Bascom Avenue Tuesday morning.

“There [was] no sense in rushing it,” San Jose police spokesman Albert Morales said. “Ultimately, we wanted him to drop the sword.” Eventually, Bennett did just that: when the naked man tried to flee, he fell over a fence, and dropped the weapon, allowing cops to cuff him without incident.

Cops eventually recovered a loaded assault rifle from the suspect’s vehicle.
