Obama to Lay Out His Plan for Immigration Reform
Published at(LAS VEGAS) — President Obama will fly to Nevada on Tuesday to detail his plan for immigration reform, one day after a bipartisan group of senators unveiled their plan.
The president is expected to lay out goals similar to what the senators announced in Washington, D.C., on Monday, but with a few differences, such as the pathway to citizenship.
Under the Senate plan, illegal immigrants wouldn’t get green cards until the border is secure. Obama, however, doesn’t favor that. He wants a pathway to citizenship to be set up immediately — not linked to border security.
The president will make his remarks Tuesday at Del Sol High School in Las Vegas at 2:55 p.m. ET.
