Producers Guild of America Announces Film Nominees for Awards Show

Ten movies will contend for the top prize.  In alphabetical order, they are: Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Moonrise Kingdom, Silver Linings Playbook, Skyfall and Zero Dark Thirty.

The awards show website GoldDerby.com points out that the winner of this category has gone on to claim the best-picture Oscar in 16 of the last 23 years.

The animated movie category contains five nominees: Brave, Frankenweenie, ParaNorman, Rise of the Guardians and Wreck-It Ralph.

The nominees in the TV categories were announced in late November.

The 24th Annual Producers Guild Awards will be held in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Jan. 26.
