Senate Sends $50B Sandy Aid Package to President Obama
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Three months after superstorm Sandy, both houses of Congress have passed a Sandy aid package and the bill now heads to President Obama’s desk for his signature.
By a vote of 62-36, the Senate passed the $50.5 billion legislation in aid Monday.
Earlier, the Senate defeated an amendment of the House-passed bill offered by Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, that would offset the spending in the bill with cuts, falling well short of the 60 votes needed to pass.
