The streets of central New Orleans were full of spectators as passing bands filled the air with music in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. A short time after the parade passed by, someone inside a car opened fire on a group of teens standing outside of a grocery store, police say.
“So far we know of five injuries,” said New Orleans Police Chief Ronal Serpas. “We don’t expect that any of those injuries are fatal at this time.”
Witnesses say the gunshots were fired rapidly.
New Orleans Police are still hunting for the shooter.
