(NEW YORK) — Here’s a look at the new movies opening Friday:
— Texas Chainsaw 3D: In this follow-up to the 1974 film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a young woman inherits a Texas estate, then visits the property, where her life becomes endangered. Alexandra Daddario, Scott Eastwood and Trey Songz star. Rated R.
— Promised Land: Matt Damon plays a corporate type who visits a town to secure drilling rights there for his natural gas company, only to face resistance from the locals. John Krasinski, Frances McDormand and Hal Holbrook also star. Rated R.
Debuting in limited release:
— The Impossible: Based on a true story and set during the Indian Ocean tsunami that struck Southeast Asia in 2004, Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor play a couple who, during a vacation in Thailand with their three sons, are separated by the natural disaster. Rated PG-13.
