UConn Upends No. 17 Notre Dame
Published at(SOUTH BEND, Ind.) — Connecticut used a 7-0 run at the end of the game to defeat No. 17 Notre Dame, 65-58 on Saturday afternoon at the Purcell Pavillion.
The loss ended Notre Dame’s 12-game winning streak.
UConn (12-3) got 19 points from Shabazz Napier and a career-high 16 from Tyler Olander to snap Notre Dame’s 17-game home winning streak.
The score was tied at 58 with 1:14 remaining after a jumper from Eric Atkins, but then Connecticut went on their run. UConn shot 50 percent from the floor overall.
Rebounding also was a large part of the game, as UConn held a 34-28 edge on the glass.
Atkins had 18 points overall to lead the Irish (14-2).
