Unemployment Benefits End for 6,000 Idahoans

(BOISE) – Federal unemployment benefits ended for more than 6,300 Idahoans this week.

The Idaho Department of Labor extended jobless benefits in 2008 to soften the impact of the recession. In the last 16 months Idaho’s unemployment rate has fallen from 8.9 percent to 6.8 percent.

Labor officials say competition for jobs across the Gem State remains tough.

More than 95,000 Idahoans have received unemployment payouts totaling $900 million since the recession began.
