Arcidiacono drilled a three-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to send the game into overtime and the Wildcats would go on to defeat Syracuse 75-71.

The win marked the second time in a week that Villanova knocked off two top ranked teams after they upset Louisville last week.

“We’ve been playing better every game,” said Villanova head coach Jay Wright.  “I felt good about the team.  I’d be lying if I said I expected to beaten both of these guys, I would have been happy with one.”

Darrun Hilliard put in 25 points in the win for Villanova.  Arcidiacono scored 10, but it was that last basket in regulation which turned out to be the biggest.

“I thought we had a better chance with defending the three-point line,” said Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim.  “They hit a real tough shot.”
