(ASPEN, CO.) — Snowmobiler Caleb Moore has passed away after succuming to his injuries sustained last week at the first day of X-Games Aspen 2013.
Moore crashed his snowmobile while performing a flip off a jump when he caught the top of the hill in the landing area and went over the handlebars. Moore, 25, was able to walk away, but later developed bleeding around his heart and a secondary complication involving his brain.
“He will be truly missed and never forgotten,” the family released in a statement on Thursday.
The family expressed their deep gratitude for all the prayers and support they have received from all the fans, friends and family around the world that Caleb has inspired.
A website had been set up for the family to raise $300,000 to help pay his hospital bills.
