Eighth-ranked Michigan State throttled fourth-ranked Michigan, 75-52 in the series first ever game where both teams were ranked in the top 10.

The Spartans (21-4) built up a 12-point halftime lead and cruised in the second half, leading by as many as 31. “We probably played our best game in three years,” Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said. “And, they probably played one of their worst.”

Four out of the five starters scored in double figures for the Spartans, including Keith Appling who had 11 points and seven rebounds. However, Appling downplayed the significance of the win. “We just have to take it for what it is and prepare for our next game,” he said.

The Wolverines (21-4) have lost three of their last four games.
