The win extends Syracuse’s home win streak to 38 games, the best active streak in Division I men’s basketball.

Syracuse (22-4, 10-3 Big East) outscored the Friars 31-4 in the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a 43-16 lead at intermission.

Michael Carter-Williams scored 15 points and dished out 12 assists for the Orange. The 12 assists mark the 10th time this season Carter-Williams has had double digit assists in a game.

Speaking of assists, Providence senior guard Vincent Council had seven in the game, giving him 431 assists for his career. That breaks former Syracuse guard Sherman Douglas’ Big East record of 426 assists, that Douglas set between 1985-89.

The loss snaps Providence’s (14-12, 6-8 Big East) four game win streak.

Syracuse is now tied with Georgetown and Marquette for first in the Big East.
