The Blackhawks (12-0-3, 27pts) tied the 1984-85 Edmonton Oilers for the second longest season-opening point streak in NHL history. Chicago can tie the 2006-07 Anaheim Ducks for the longest streak ever with a win Tuesday against Vancouver.

As for the game, Chicago stormed to the lead in the first on goals by Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews. Patrick Sharp added a goal early in the second period, as Chicago headed into the third up 3-0.

Los Angeles (5-6-2, 12pts) made it interesting in the third. Mike Richards scored two power-play goals, the second one pulling the Kings within one with 7:10 to play.

The Kings came close to tying it up a few times in the final minutes. They went on the power-play with 1:04 left, but the Hawks held strong and secured victory.
