(PASADENA, Calif.) — California Institute of Technology’s baseball team defeated Pacifica 9-7 on Saturday, ending a 228-game losing streak that dated back to Feb. 15, 2003.
After Caltech dropped its season-opening doubleheader 5-0, freshman starting pitcher Daniel Chou led the way for the Beavers in the second game, pitching seven innings for the complete game victory.
Caltech, which plays most of their games against Division III opponents, has not won a contest against a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference participant in 463 games, dating back to 1988.
In 2011, Caltech’s men’s basketball squad snapped a 310-game conference losing streak.
