(BOISE, ID)  —  A state Senate committee has voted to move forward with a bill that would end early retirement incentives program for Idaho  teachers. The program was initially dumped as a result of the “Students Come First” laws, but was reinstated after voters overwhelmingly rejected the reforms last November. Idaho ‘s teachers union opposes the bill, saying it would restrict opportunities for lower-salaried teachers. Supporters point to data showing that teachers often retire early, regardless of the extra benefits.
