(NEW YORK) — Karl Rove is finding out what it’s like to get on Donald Trump’s bad side.
Trump, the real estate mogul and host of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice, loves to pick fights and his latest is with former President George W. Bush’s once highly regarded adviser who’s taken heat for Super PACs that failed to deliver big GOP wins in the last election.
Never one to hold back, Trump tweeted on Thursday, “Why are people giving money to Karl Rove when he just wasted $400M without any victories?”
Then there was, “Use your head. Karl Rove is a total loser. Money given to him might as well be thrown down the drain. Karl Rove’s strategy and commercials were the worst I have ever seen.”
In one sense, Rove might be welcoming the vitriol as proof that the Republican Party needs to excise loose cannons like Trump, who often wind up doing more harm than good.
Rove is also at odds with Tea Party groups, contending that they’re pushing the GOP in an extreme direction that will hurt the party in elections down the road.
