Published at(HAVANA) — Former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro appeared in public Sunday at length for the first time in three years.
Castro, 86, was spotted voting at a polling station in Havana. He reportedly spent an hour talking with voters who turned out Sunday to vote in parliamentary elections.
Cuba’s former leader took the time to praise Venezuela’s ailing President Hugo Chavez for his contribution to the region, saying Chavez must be credited for his work in the formation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
Chavez is reportedly recovering from cancer surgery.
