Flyers Agree to One-Year Extension with Kimmo Timonen
Published at(PHILADELPHIA) — The Philadelphia Flyers agreed to a one-year contract extension with defenseman Kimmo Timonen, the team announced Thursday.
The deal is worth $6 million.
“We are pleased to announce that we have signed Kimmo Timonen to a one-year contract extension,” Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. “Kimmo’s presence on the ice for us and in our locker room is invaluable. We look forward to him continuing his all-around play for us.”
The 37-year-old Timonen is now locked up through the 2013-14 season.
The four-time All-Star is playing in his 14th NHL season, sixth with the Flyers. During that time Timonen has played in 980 games scoring 107 goals while dishing out 405 assists.
