(PHILADELPHIA) — Philadelphia Flyers second-year center Matt Read will miss the next six weeks with torn ribcage muscles, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced Thursday night.
Read was hurt during the Flyers’ win at Pittsburgh Wednesday, after taking a hit from Penguins winger Chris Kunitz in the first period.
The 26-year-old Read is tied with Jakub Voracek for the team lead in goals. Read has also tallied six assists this season.
Rookie Tye McGinn will take Reads spot on the ice.
