Grammy Stage Intruder Jailed for Interrupting Adele’s Award Moment
(LOS ANGELES) -- The Grammy Awards may have scored 28 million viewers on Sunday night, but very few people noticed the moment when an intruder rushed the stage. The incident caused Jennifer Lopez to feel uncomfortable and/or annoyed.
Vitalli Sediuk, a known prankster on Ukraine TV, stormed the main stage where Lopez was presenting Adele with the award for Best Pop Solo Performance. Dressed in a tuxedo and black glasses, Sediuk made his way to the microphone as the British singer was climbing the stairs. Lopez was then seen giving the man a stern look and, with a gesture of her thumb, made it clear he should vacate the stage.
The gatecrasher could briefly be seen on camera as Pitbull, who was co-presenting the award, gives Adele a congratulatory kiss. Lopez maintained her composure throughout, taking just a moment to look at the intruder a second time.
A source close to the joker tells The Hollywood Reporter that the man was able to infiltrate the Grammys ceremony without a ticket or press credentials. Apparently, he strode down the red carpet and entered Los Angeles' Staples Center next to Katy Perry. He then took a seat designated for Adam Levine, behind Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. The Maroon 5 singer was forced to take a seat on the floor.
Sediuk -- who famously kissed a miffed Will Smith at the Moscow premiere of Men in Black 3 last year -- was held by event security and spent an evening in jail. He was later released, pending a court date in March.
The Grammy event was held under even tighter security than usual because of precautions taken by the Los Angeles Police Department during the ongoing manhunt for fugitive Christopher Dorner.
