Illinois senior forward Tyler Griffey scored off an inbounds pass with 0.9 seconds left in the game, vaulting the Illini past No. 1 Indiana 74-72.

Indiana’s loss marks the fifth straight week the top-ranked team has lost.

Illinois (16-8, 3-7 Big Ten) senior guard D.J. Richardson scored a game high 23 points and Brandon Paul chipped in 21 in the win.

Indiana (20-3, 8-2 Big Ten) did not trail the entire second half until Griffey’s game winner.

Indiana has now lost nine of its last 10 games in Champaign.

Illinois had lost six of its last seven before this win.

“We can use this for our confidence,” Griffey said after the game. “I think we took a step forward in just trusting each other. Our communication in this game was the best it was all season…it was at a all-time high and it just showed on the court.”
