Kershaw To Take The Mound For Dodgers On Opening Day
Published at(GLENDALE, Ariz.) — The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Saturday that 2011 National League Cy Young award winner Clayton Kershaw will take the mound on opening day against the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium.
It’ll be the third straight year Kershaw has started on opening day. Don Sutton holds the club record with seven opening day starts.
In 33 starts last year for the Dodgers, the 24 year-old Kershaw went 14-9 with a 2.53 ERA. He struck out 229 batters in 227 2-3 innings of work.
