Now with the Yankees, Youkilis says he’s proud to be part of the Yankees after recently commenting on how much he cherished his time in Boston.

This past Thursday, Youkilis proclaimed “I’ll always be a Red Sock.” That did not sit well with Yankee fans, who are still getting used to seeing Youkilis in pin stripes. But Youkilis tired to repair the relationship he has with the New York faithful.

“The one comment alone looks bad,” Youkilis said Friday morning. “Let’s be honest, I mean, the comment itself looks terrible, but that was not what it was meant to be.”

“I’m a Yankee today, and I’m excited,” Youkilis added. “I’m proud to be a Yankee.”

The 33-year old Youkilis was an integral part of the Red Sox over the past nine seasons, and helped the team win the World Series in 2007.
