Late Celebrities Left Out of Oscars’ ‘In Memoriam’ Segment

ABC/BOB D'AMICO(LOS ANGELES) -- The Oscars' "In Memoriam" segment is typically notable as much for who it excluded as for who it included.  This year is no exception.

The "In Memoriam" segment on Sunday's Oscars telecast left out the late Andy Griffith, Dallas star Larry Hagman, Webster and Blazing Saddles star Alex Karras, and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory director Mel Stuart, among many others.

However, the aforementioned names and more are featured in an online "In Memoriam 2012" slideshow posted on the Oscars' official website.

But even that slideshow omits a few memorable actors, such as comedienne Phyllis Diller, The Jeffersons star Sherman Hemsley, and Diff'rent Strokes' Conrad Bain.  To be fair, Diller, Hemsley and Bain are all well-known for their TV work or appearances.

Actress Lupe Ontiveros, whose credits include the films The Goonies and Selena and the TV series Desperate Housewives, was also omitted from the "In Memoriam" TV segment and Internet slideshow, to the dismay of her family.  Her son tells TMZ.com the family was "disappointed" by the perceived snub.
