(SAN FRANCISCO) — The 2012 World Series champion the San Francisco Giants will get back to work, as pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on Tuesday.
Giants’ pitcher Matt Cain threw the 22nd perfect game in 2012 and then went on to win his second World Series title in October. He realizes teams in the NL West will be gunning for them.
“We’ll be the favorites because we’re coming out from last year,” Cain told SFGiants.com. “We’ve got a lot of work to do. You just can’t count anybody out in this division.”
Cain was 16-5 in the regular season with a 2.79 ERA and will have his team focused on 2013.
“We’ve got to go into spring thinking it’s a new year,” the three-time All-Star said.
