Jordan told NBA TV on Thursday that Los Angeles Lakers forward Kobe Bryant is better than Miami Heat forward Lebron James, despite the fact that James is often compared to Jordan. Still, James only has one NBA Championship. Jordan retired with six championships and five MVP trophies.

“Five beats one every time I look at it,” Jordan said of Bryant who has five NBA titles. “And not that (James) won’t get five. He may get more than that, but five is bigger than one.”

Bryant is a 15-time All-Star and also has one MVP trophy.

James was asked on Thursday before Miami’s game against the Thunder about the ongoing debate.

“It doesn’t matter to me,” James said.  “If you take Kobe one and I go second, it doesn’t matter. I don’t get too involved in what guys say about me… As long as I’m on the floor and I make plays for my teammates, I don’t do what I do for other people’s approval.”
